Abdo Jebara

The cultural diversity in Libya between Arabs, Tuareg, and Amazigh made the arts unique and fascinating. I have always tried to learn the language, but acquiring it proved challenging. I have always wondered about the impact it would make if you combine all these different types of arts in music.

My name is Abdo Jebara, and I’m an artist and Lebanese musician.

I was born in Libya and have enjoyed its culture since childhood. My art career began when I was a student at Tripoli university. I formed many concerts and memories inside the walls of this university. With the support of friends and family, I continued to enjoy it passionately.

My deep passion for music shone brightly during charity events. My favourite concert and most impactful was “Kafihi” - You Fight - a charity event in 2014 in support of breast cancer patients.

As much as those charity concerts touched my soul, they also impacted my artistic career by helping me overcome my stage fright and teaching me more about performing. Afterwards, I found confidence in myself and the audience's love for me.

Despite many challenges during my artistic career, such as the lack of supporting record labels in Libya, I continued with force because I don’t easily give in to life's hardships. Something that helped me the most in my career is my love for art and my belief in its ability to make a change.

Finally, I wish Libya would stabilise politically and economically; so that people would pay attention to how rich their art could be, witness the mixing of different cultures, and create stunning art. I have always felt amazed whenever I imagine it.
